That’s right, Facebook is the largest online gaming website on the Internet. While there may not be enough statistics to support that claim, think of this – there are 500 million users registered with Facebook, and nearly 3/4 of those users play at least one game on a regular basis. Not only that, a majority of the applications on Facebook are games, both small and big.

Facebook was intended to be a social networking site, and it still is one. But a lot of people are increasingly using it only for gaming and other fun activities instead of socializing. The only Facebook users who are using the site for networking are those who access the site through their mobile phones (most apps won’t work on standard phones). What does this mean for the average Facebook user? Most of us don’t think twice before giving these apps access to our profile information. These app developers get every update of our lives even though they aren’t officially our friends. This is a bit dangerous, because not all app developers are exactly…nice!

With more than 500 million users, Facebook has swelled to have the population of a large country. Its citizens are mostly addicts – some are addicted to chatting, some to gaming, some to listening music, etc. Facebook allows all of them to come together on a common platform and share their interests with the whole world. While this has proved beneficial to many people, there are still a lot of users who simply don’t pay enough attention to the amount of information they are putting up on Facebook. Just a few years ago, Facebook was in the second or third position of the leading social networking sites. But thanks to these addictive games/apps, it rose to the top position. This is an unspoken fact. Most people attribute Facebook’s success to its networking features. But the online gaming capabilities that Facebook offers can’t be matched by any other gaming portal.

Online gaming sure is fun, and it is all the more fun when you’re playing with your friends. Tilling a farm or shooting down a few gangsters sounds like a good idea for fun. But make sure that you don’t get too addicted to chasing games like these. One wrong click, one wrong app, and the developer could play with your information in ways unimaginable. So do remember to watch out when you’re busy plowing your field or reloading your gun!
